This website is operated by Guenther Metal Products (“Guenther”, “we”, “us”), 35 Niagara Stone Rd., Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
Sections 1–5 cover using the website. Sections 6–18 cover buying from us, and they apply to every order placed through this site, by phone, or at the counter, unless we have signed something different with you.
Using the site means you accept sections 1–5. Placing an order means you accept the rest.
Use it to look at products, work out quantities, ask us things and place orders. Please don’t attempt to disrupt it, scrape it wholesale, break into any part of it, or use it for anything unlawful.
We may suspend access if the site is being misused.
If you create an account, keep the password to yourself and tell us as soon as you think someone else has used it. Orders placed through your account are treated as yours until you tell us otherwise.
The text, photographs, drawings, layout and code on this site belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. Manufacturers’ literature, warranty documents and product renders belong to those manufacturers.
You are welcome to print or save anything here for your own project — a colour chart, an installation guide, a quote. Republishing it, or using it to sell competing products, needs our written permission.
We try to keep the site up, correct and current, but we cannot promise it will never be down or never contain a mistake. Specifications, coverage figures, stock and prices can change, and we may correct an error at any time, including after you have placed an order (see section 9).
Coverage widths, rib heights, gauges and lengths are nominal and follow the manufacturer’s published tolerances. Gauge is a nominal measure of thickness, not a guaranteed dimension.
What is shown on this site is a guide for planning. The manufacturer’s own current specification and installation manual govern the product itself, and they are what a warranty is judged against.
No screen shows a paint colour accurately. Monitors, phones and printers all shift it, and the same panel looks different in overcast light, in direct sun and under a soffit.
Order a physical chip, or take one from the yard, before committing to a colour — especially when matching an existing roof, an extension, or a batch bought in a different year. Steel from different production runs can vary slightly in shade even under the same colour name.
Because cut material cannot be resold, we cannot accept a return because a colour looked different on screen. See sections 13 and 16.
Prices are in Canadian dollars and do not include HST, which is added at checkout at the applicable Ontario rate.
Steel pricing moves with the mills, so the prices shown here can change without notice. The price that applies to your order is the one we confirm when we accept it — not necessarily the one displayed when you added an item to the cart. If a price has changed, or is obviously wrong, we will tell you before we cut anything and you can walk away.
A written quote holds for 30 days from its date unless it says otherwise, and assumes the material is still available at that price.
Quantities in a quote are based on the measurements you gave us. We are happy to check the arithmetic; we cannot check the measurements from here.
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract exists once we confirm the order — by email or on the phone — and, for cut-to-order material, once it is scheduled to be cut.
We may decline or cancel an order before that point, for example if the material is no longer available, a price or specification was listed incorrectly, or we cannot verify a delivery address. If you have already been charged, you get the full amount back.
You can pay at pickup or on delivery, by e-transfer, or by card. Cut-to-order material is scheduled once payment or the agreed deposit has cleared.
The goods remain ours until they are paid for in full. Risk of loss or damage passes to you when you take the material at the yard, or when it is delivered to your site.
Panels, flashing and trim are cut and formed to the dimensions you supply. That is what makes them fit, and it is also what makes them unsaleable to anyone else.
Once material has been cut or formed to your dimensions, the order cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged. Please check your cut list twice before you confirm it.
Measuring the job is your responsibility. If you would like a second pair of eyes on a list before it goes to the shear, send it over — we would much rather spend ten minutes on it than cut the wrong thing.
Any lead time we give is an estimate based on what the mills and our own schedule look like that day. Colour and gauge availability move it more than anything else. We will tell you as soon as we know a date has slipped, but we cannot be liable for a contractor’s scheduling loss caused by a delay (section 17).
Bring straps and something that will support the length you ordered. We will help you load, but securing the load and transporting it safely is your responsibility once it leaves the yard. Long panels flex, and a panel that kinks in transit is not a warranty claim.
We deliver to a point the truck can reach safely and legally. Someone has to be there to receive the load, check it and sign for it, and long panels need enough hands to carry them off the deck without bending.
Delivery is quoted for the region and for reasonable access. If the truck arrives and cannot get in, or nobody is there to receive it, a second trip is chargeable.
Count the load and look it over before you sign. Note any shortage or damage on the delivery paperwork at the time.
Tell us about a shortage or transit damage within 48 hours of pickup or delivery, with photographs. After that we have no way to take it up with the carrier, and we cannot put it right for free.
Installed material is deemed accepted. Check a panel before it goes on the roof, not after.
Stock items that have not been cut can come back within 30 days, provided they are unused, undamaged, in resaleable condition and in their original packaging, and you have the receipt. A restocking fee of 15% applies, and the original freight charge is not refundable.
Not returnable: anything cut or formed to your dimensions, custom-bent trim, special-order colours and gauges, and opened sealants and fasteners.
None of this affects your rights under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 where it applies to you.
Steel, paint systems and accessories carry the manufacturer’s written warranty. We pass that warranty to you and help you make a claim under it — we hold the purchase records the manufacturer will ask for.
Those warranties normally exclude damage from installation faults, contact with incompatible metals, standing water, coastal or industrial exposure, and mechanical damage after delivery. Read the document for the product you bought; the current version is on the product page.
We do not warrant anyone’s installation work. If we did not employ the installer, their workmanship is between you and them.
We will happily tell you what we know about profiles, fasteners, ventilation and coverage. It is general trade knowledge, not an engineering opinion, and it does not replace a designer, an engineer, your local building department, or the manufacturer’s installation manual.
To the extent the law allows, our liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for the material the claim is about, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profit, lost contracts, delay costs, or an installer’s labour to remove and refit material.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) and the Sale of Goods Act (Ontario), or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Mill shortages, strikes, transport failures, fire, flood, storms and government measures all affect a steel supply chain. Where something outside our reasonable control prevents or delays an order, we are not in breach of these terms; we will tell you what is happening and, if it cannot be resolved in a reasonable time, refund what you have paid for material not yet produced.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
We may update these terms; the current version is always the one on this page, with its date at the top. The version in force when you placed an order is the one that governs that order.
